Doing Business in Emerging Markets

This course has been designed to provide students with a better understanding of the opportunities and constraints faced by managers of local and foreign enterprises of all sizes operating in emerging markets. These markets account for 80% of the world's population. Due to their significant growth over the past two decades, these markets represent interesting business opportunities for managers. Topics covered include value chain and supplier management; management challenges, barriers and incentives for local and foreign firms to develop talent and innovations; planning and development of business strategies; business organization and operation; and the importance of leadership in business success in these economies. It will provide students with a better understanding of the management practices used by managers of local and foreign enterprises in these economies. Students will gain a better understanding of the current international management environment, opportunities and challenges prevailing in emerging economies.
