In an increasingly competitive environment, firms must ensure that the design, implementation, and control of their systems and processes are aligned with their business strategy in order to sustain a competitive advantage. This course discusses how the organization's operations function manages its resources and processes in order to deliver products, services, and experiences that feature superior attributes in terms of cost, variety, responsiveness, quality, and innovation. We examine the key operational decisions (e.g. facilities, inventory, capacity, technology, etc.) that the organization must make to support its strategic positioning, and the trade-offs inherent to such decisions. We will also discuss the new stakes and perspectives that the Industry 4.0 offers to create more value.
