Ultimately, students will be able to articulate and execute arts/cultural projects in markets in Canada and abroad. This is achieved by developing knowledge and understanding of the essential elements of projects. In order to succeed, students will need to demonstrate the skills of articulating a project and critical thinking between theory/conceptual frameworks and their own definitions of the essential elements of the subject.
Due to a faster and faster-paced economic playing field, project management has become the object of academic and practitioner attention, usually with a corporate or public-service viewpoint. This course addresses the market reality that cultural workers will at some point, if not continuously, need to manage projects for themselves and/or organizations. The ability to articulate, communicate, execute and oversee projects is a determining factor for a cultural career's success beyond artisanal production.
