Management Skills

MNGT 20405A
Management is a practical art that requires skills and abilities to intervene effectively. Managerial skills are based on three types of competencies: - Cognitive Competencies: These include the ability to understand management situations holistically, integrate different perspectives on these situations, and adopt a reflective approach to learn from experiences. - Technical Competencies: These involve experimenting with various means (theories, models, and management tools) to achieve organizational goals in real situations and adapting these means to specific contexts. - Social Competencies: These include the ability to guide, direct, influence, communicate, and foster engagement within teams. These competencies enable managers to formulate and implement interventions that ensure proper coordination of the collective. These competencies enable managers to formulate and implement interventions that ensure adequate coordination of the collective. Managerial skills are thus defined as a set of practical abilities adapted to a given situation, specific to the person exercising them, and capable of leading to desired results.
