Production and Inventory Planning and Control

OPER 20502A
Managers must plan ahead for the activities they intend to carry out during the upcoming business periods in order to better organize the use of the resources at their disposal. This applies to production, procurement, sales and distribution tasks. The course enables students to gain proficiency in the activities associated with: 1) developing sales, production and inventory plans for the short, medium and long term; and 2) monitoring their deployment. More precisely, the course: - presents the fundamentals of a production and inventory planning and control system and allows students to apply these foundations using real-life examples; - examines demand forecasting methods and the various planning levels; - explains the problems encountered by operations planners in the day-to-day running of a business and the approaches to adopt in resolving these problems.
