Quebec Experience

INTE 60004A
This course aims to better understand the socio-economic and business environment of the Montreal region in the institutional context of Quebec. By studying different concepts related to the business environment, this course will allow international students to have knowledge of the major strategic issues and challenges inherent in today's business environment and to understand current and future opportunities for its success. Students will gain a concrete experience of the local business environment through meetings with senior executives of local or multinational companies as well as representatives of government and parapublic organizations. Students will acquire knowledge and develop skills to be able to better navigate the business environment of Quebec and to know the various tools and resources to be able to flourish there.
Themes covered

- The social and economic business context in Quebec and its success factors from an interdisciplinary point of view including economics management sociology history politics and geography.

- The development of a management career in Quebec through a better understanding of soft skills.

- Networking of students with key players in the Quebec economy among other things through the support of HEC Montreal alumni.

- The tools available to support entrepreneurial projects in Quebec.

- The contemporary global issues and the strengths and weaknesses of Quebec to face them.
